One of the questions I get asked most is about my recommendations for where to get ready on the Wedding day.
Here’s my top 5 things to look for:

1. Lots of windows with good soft lighting. We turn the lights off for the best skin tones (because ugly lightbulb colors) so the more natural light we have, the better.

2. White walls - they act as natural reflectors and are used as backgrounds, & let’s be honest nobody wants a puke green wall in their wedding photos.
3. Close proximity to the ceremony venue - knowing your close to the ceremony eases nerves on the morning of and if something is forgotten, your nice and close to send someone so you don’t have to worry about being late. Plus, your there faster so less time scrunching your dress in the car.
4. Allows you to have your makeup, hair, & photography team on site. - can you believe we’ve had hotels & inns not allow this? Make sure to check!
5. Space - there are going to be bridesmaids, Mom’s, Grandma’s, Aunts, hairstylist, makeup artists, & a photography team in your room. We don’t mind cuddling but it’s nice for you to have more room than needed.

Head to the blog, link in bio - to read our full blog post on the full reason behind why we choose these and a few more as our “Our Top 5 Ways to Choose Your Wedding Day Getting Ready Room.” Is there anything I’m missing? What should I add to the list?

Do you ever feel like your radiating? Maybe you’ve felt it when you accomplished a project at work or when your beau asked you to be his partner in life.
I feel it when I’m behind my camera on location with a couple giving them small prompts and they start laughing and letting their walls come down. I get to be apart of something special. A small moment in their lives where their love is so fresh & exuberant. Together we create artwork for their walls throughout their home that they get to look back at, their whole lives. My work!! So if you ever see me beaming from behind my camera it’s because I feel like I’m on top of the world.
What about you? When have you felt like you couldn’t wipe that grin off your face?

My 10 year old crush: the guy that worked across the street and drove the red truck. He was blonde, had green eyes, and drove a red truck. You heard he drove a red truck right? Yeah, apparently at 10, I crushed on boys just because they drove red trucks.
The first time I talked to him, I almost fell over backwards because he introduced himself and then went in for a friendly hug. It was 13 years later after I originally saw him and had no idea at the time that it was the same guy.
I regretted being so closed off from his hug, and that he would see it as me not liking him. I would then overthink it for two days until he called me for a second date. I learned a lot from dating Troy. Like not to listen to people when they said he didn’t like me and I had been friend zoned, all because he hadn’t held my hand yet. People move at different paces in life. That 10 year old crush is my husband now and certainly wouldn’t have been, if I listened to others.
Did something like that ever happen for you when you were growing up? Would love to hear!
Do you ever have those moments where you’re like, “yes! This is why I love my job!” Aren’t those the best?
It happened again yesterday? When I was received an email from a #extbride. They were struggling with selecting the right prints to hang on their wall and how to lay them out. So I had her send me some photos of the space she wanted to arrange them in and I drew up some ideas along with sharing my input of which images I thought would look best in her space.
She felt secure in knowing we had her back and enthusiastic to tackle her project with a new approach. I was delighted that she trusted in me enough to reach out and ask for my advice.
What’s happened recently for you that’s reminded you why you like (or tolerate 😂) your job?

Sometimes it’s little things like this. Where a client trusts in your opinion because they value your input. Those little things can give you the biggest reward and giddiest feeling. I may have done a little office dance afterward. It feels so good to help others.
Have you ever taken a bite of something and thought, “I ordered this? It’s hard, tastes pungent, and is as messy as packing popcorn.” That happened when I was eating red velvet cake at my cousins Wedding with Troy. The whole thing just felt like I was tasting something I wasn’t supposed to be.
I’m thinking about it right now because sometimes when we are searching for vendors, we don’t taste test before investing in something. I love getting to know our couples and popping open some 🍾 and snacking on some popcorn, cheese, and gummy bears. Weird combo, I know! Don’t judge until you try it, k!
It’s a way of getting to know each other before opting in. You can see if we mesh. If you like Joanna Gaines, old farmhouse style, champagne, spending time with family and close friends, delicate carefully curated details and are a bit of a Tom boy. Most likely we’ll be walking you through your wedding day before you know it.
What about you? What’s one of the best flavors of cake you’ve had? 🍰
